Karoo Disaster Relief NPC is a Non-profit company established to provide physical relief and related support to areas affected by natural and man-induced catastrophes.
Our goal is to support and where applicable help direct the provision of aid and subsequently also to help rebuild institutional capacities within areas affected by calamities of various forms.
The past decade has seen an increased prevalence of natural disasters and indications show that this trend will continue. Karoo Disaster Relief NPC was born out of the collective concerns of various individuals who feel it is their responsibility to be prepared for and help organise an adequate response to current and future crises. As well as to provide a vehicle to raise funds and awareness to support the areas affected by these disasters.
Karoo Disaster Relief NPC t/a Klein Karoo Disaster Relief has a specific focus on the agricultural sector, as a backbone of the South African economy and major employment contributor, during times of prolonged drought, excessive flooding, wildfires and biological outbreaks.
Legal Structure:
Karoo Disaster Relief is a Non-Profit Company registered with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission [CIPC] of South Africa. Karoo Disaster Relief NPC has partnered with Relief Life Disaster Management Trust which has a similar objective, to provide section 18A certificates for donations given, to enable donors to deduct their donations from taxable income.

From 2016 to date, the Karoo Region, as well as the greater Western Cape province has been plagued by the worst drought in centuries. Many farmers already filed for bankruptcy, due to the lack of feed available for the animals.

Your finances will help to buy feed for the animals, to ensure that the farmers do not go bankrupt during these trying times.
This will in turn ensure that an under-supply of these products (usually as a costly premium for consumers) doesn't happen.
And that the thousands of jobs held by farm workers are secured, thereby providing for their families.

Fields that is used for grazing is left bone dry. Having no water for months at a time
Dam levels have dropped significantly, where no water is available for farming activities, yet farmers are still required to pay for the monthly water right, even though no water may be used
This field used to be lush green with lucern, used as animal feed. Now these feeds need to be bought at an expensive premium.
Storage facilities are left empty, after the prolonged drought have eaten away at available reserves and animal feed stockpiles.

Relief Life is a Section 18A registered NPO, with the sole purpose of partnering with organisations like Klein Karoo Disaster Relief, to help in the time of need.
